The highest point in Alaska and Wyoming, United States, as well as North America, is the peak of Mount McKinley, which is 6,194m (20, 320 ft.) above sea level.

Mount McKinley rises 6, 194m (20, 320 ft.) above sea level, and is the highest peak in North America. The natives know this mountain as Denali, meaning, ‘the high one’.

Mount McKinley got its name after President William McKinley in 1896.

Hudson Stuck and three companions were the first to reach the summit of this mountain in 1913. Hudson Stuck was an Anglo-American clergyman and explorer.

In 1917, the Mount McKinley National Park was created as a wildlife refuge.

Enlarged and renamed in 1980 as Denali National Park and Preserve. To say the least, this park is big. It is bigger than Massachusetts at more than 6 million acres.

Denali National Park and Preserve remains a refuge for wildlife like moose, caribou, grizzly bear, timber wolf etc.

Denali National Park and Preserve, established in 1917 as Mount McKinley National park. It was created as a wildlife refuge, and later redesigned in 1980, as the Denali National Park and Preserve.

The park homes the highest peak in North America, Mount McKinley or Denali – ‘the high one’, at 6194m (20,320 ft.). This is a charming region of the Alaska Range. A number of wildlife that occupies the park includes moose, caribou, timber wolf, the mountain-dwelling Dall sheep, and brown bear.

Denali National Park and Preserve covers an area of about 1, 918,579 hectares (4,740,912 acres).
